Willie Little, Artist and Storyteller

“Kinfolks” focuses on the extraordinary nature of everyday life on my family’s tobacco farm in rural eastern North Carolina. The work addresses universal human triumph despite a marginal existence.  Inspired by folk art and outsider art, this series utilizes the impasto painterly technique as a base for photographs and a combination of found objects and narrative text tell a compelling story of a family’s love humor and tenacity of spirit.

As an installation in the gallery the work appeals to all the senses, engaging he viewer through the scent of tobacco from the region as well as a touching and humorous narrative as an audio backdrop. My desire is to put the viewer virtually “in the moment.”
